So after years and years in hiatus, my bangs are back. Appropriate for someone who has a new love of guns. :)
I haven't had bangs since Beauty and the Beast came out. I loved Belle's side bangs so much I pushed mine to the side and they grew out ever since. I identified with her book nerd side, what can I say...plus those damn Disney women have PERFECT hair. I leave you with my last haircut's inspiration.
If you haven't figured it out by now, here are all the Rockfest pictures I really liked. They are in order from last band to first band (because blogger is stupid like that) and I haven't given any of them cutlines. Oh well. Huge thanks to Darren Hackney, G. Marc, and Dustin Craig for making it fun and educational. :)
Ever feel like you are completely alone and no one cares about how you are doing or what's going on in your life? Yeah. I'm there right now. So, hey...let's talk about guns! Friday, I got to go out to the range with M and shoot a Glock. FINALLY! Yes, after months and months of wanting to shoot the damn thing I have finally done it. Why not go to the range and do it yourself, you ask? Simple. I wanted to learn from a trained person on how to properly hold and fire the weapon so as not to develop any terrible habits in the beginning. Sure. I could have gone out and fired with Joe Q Public, but why do that when Q Public + badge is nice enough to show me himself? :) Nice. Though I felt like a complete dumbass most of the time, M was super helpful in helping me get over myself and my stupid fear the gun would blow up in my face. Hell. I got a "stovepipe malfunction" and learned to clear that no problems. (Turn to the gun to the side and pull the slide back and boom. Done.) M's Glock is what he uses for competition, so it may have been (probably was) better than the average Glock...or maybe not. Now that I've actually fired one, I will most definitely fire another. Kickback was nothing at all on it. I'm always worried about that. M did a great thing by smack the gun while it was in my hand. Yeah, sure, made me feel dumb for my fear of kickback but it didn't hurt as much as getting smacked with the gun in my hand. :) I've GOT TO WORK ON MY GRIP AND STANCE!!! Note for the future. I'm already looking for my sister's BB gun handgun so I can practice how to hold it. Stupid. I know. But it's all I got. Shooting at 15 and 25 yards was like shooting in two different worlds, but I did relatively well my first time out I thought. If I didn't get it center mass, I sure as hell came close. Enough to kill the guy at least. (Poor blue target man) I only got one shot outside the blue and that may or may not have grazed the guy's shoulder. I would like to think it would have. (More points on qualification! :) ) Saturday was M-16 patrol rifle qualification again. My idiot thinking screwed up my first 40 round attempt because I was aiming the rifle like a handgun. NOTE- Handguns and rifles don't site the same. *sigh* I got to the 15 yard line and realized what I had done and finally lined up the sites in the circle and got to shooting. I only got like 10 center mass. Stupid. After M told me the basic's of site (which was all refresher from the two classes I've been in...I fully deserved that) it was back on the course and I passed with 80 percent iron sites. I've never done iron sites before so that was good for my *second* attempt. I would bet I could get 90 percent next time around. Need to work on my stance again. It's starting to get lax. And, if you don't realize by now, huge thank you to M for taking me out to the gun range on both days and allowing me to shoot. I hope one day what I learn will help me save someone's life or help save mine. :) And now the song that only I'll understand that goes with this blog entry. Guess for yourselves...or ask.
